Nicole Bedward

Registered Social Worker

Nicole is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with over 25 years of experience working with diverse populations with varying wellness needs across different sectors of mental health and well-being. Nicole has supported, children, youth, and families and has also engaged individuals and couples in achieving both personal and interpersonal goals around wellness and healing.

Nicole practices by prioritizing the voices and narratives of the people she works with and navigating what is most important to the person(s) in front of her. Guided by an inclusive and collaborative approach, Nicole strives to create a safe and affirming environment where every woman feels heard, respected, and supported. Nicole practices from a strength-based, person-centred approach that is culturally responsive. She understands that life’s challenges can influence wellness and the day-to-day. Nicole is enthusiastic about helping women build resilience and a stronger foundation for themselves despite the many barriers they may face. Her services aim to assist people in reflection and action through methods like Narrative Therapy, Cognitive-Based Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) based on the individuals needs.

Her focus is always starting where you are!

A bit about me…

I have a deep commitment to helping women feel empowered through every stage in life. I carry many roles, a mother of two, a wife, a sister, a daughter, and friend. These roles have taught me so much about myself and the world around me and has propelled me into work based in equity and diversity. Outside of working, I enjoy exploring new self-care practices while balancing a busy family life and extra-curricular activities. I love to read or listen to audiobooks, crafting, and dancing. I love being outdoors, minus the bugs, and love being with others, particularly while sharing a delicious meal.

I look forward to helping you tap into your strengths and all those things that make you uniquely you.

Please note, if you have a school-aged child attending the Durham District School Board (DDSB), it would be a conflict of interest for me to collaborate with you at this time, as I am also employed at the DDSB. As such, I would encourage to select one of my teammates that would be more than happy to assist.
