Who would benefit from seeing a pediatric NP?

Any infants, children or new mothers who do not have a family physician or cannot get in to see their family physician in a timely manner. Those who are more comfortable with seeking care with longer scheduled appointment times in a wellness centre atmosphere.

Does OHIP cover NP care?

No. NPs can provide OHIP services such as specialist referrals, tests, immunizations, and prescriptions. However, the NP visit itself is NOT covered (fees may be covered by your extended health plans for nursing care, similar to the process for physiotherapy or massage).

Do I need a referral?

No you do not. However, your insurance company may require one for fee reimbursement. Please check with your provider.
